ACTORS IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND LIMITED SOVEREIGNTY
Abstract
Postmodern social theory and science on international
relations treat national entities as primary actors i.e. participants in
the international community, as well as international politics. The
state remains an essential actor in international relations, with respect
to other traditional subjects and contemporary factors. National
organizations, especially secessionist movements supported by
terrorist groups, present the greatest threat to humanity. Also, certain
religious groups in collaboration with organized crime and terrorism
seriously endanger human existence in many parts of the world. The
main characteristics of state structures remain crucial for every
society, especially the population, territory and sovereign power.
Global trends increase the importance of other characteristics of the
state, especially economic resources and military effects. Sovereignty
remains the main principle in international relations, where the
phenomenon of limited sovereignty becomes a constant in objective
relations at a global level.
